We’re excited to announce the installation of the new Mug Returns Basket, making it easier than ever to drop off your reusable mugs for the Mug Library.

The much-loved Bellingen bakery Swiss Patisserie recently added a collection basket out the front of their business for returning library mugs. Owner Rick, who founded the bakery more than 30 years ago with his partner Danielle (who makes an extraordinary pistachio-based pastry) designed and built this unique shelf.

We love how this hand-crafted feature can be assembled at the start of the day and packed away again at close. Swiss Patisserie joined the townwide Mug Library back in 2022. Since then, they’ve inspired many a customer – both locals and tourists – to skip the single-use and instead chose an upcycled mug for their takeaway coffee.

Swiss Patisserie continue to contribute positively to their shire; firstly they have massively reduced the number of PFA-lined cups being sent to the Raleigh Waste Management centre and secondly they have helped to divert unloved ceramic mugs from also been added to landfill at the Raleigh site. Best of all, meaningful connections have been made between staff and customers as together they build a new coffee culture.

Take away never tasted so good!
