Hearthfire Bakery

“I think the initiative is just fantastic,” said the cafe manager. “People are participating. We get the thumbs up from customers when we tell them they can’t get a single-use cup anymore.”

Owners Sally and Dave are passionate about not only bread but also sustainability, local ingredients and creating a sense of community; while a team of highly-skilled craftspeople lovingly create doughs turning them into loaves such as baguettes, ciabatta, spelt multigrain, pastries, toasties and rolls.

Pair a dandelion chai tea with an oat and raisin cookie, or rose pistachio brownie; perhaps wrap your hands around a brie and beetroot relish panini, or spinach and ricotta pastie to stave off lunchtime hunger.

Family-sized savoury tarts like zucchini, goats’ cheese and kale, or mushroom, spinach and feta are available to take home for a quick and easy weeknight dinner.

In March 2023 – along with 5 Church Street and Bellingen Gelato – this much loved local bakery became 100% REUSE for takeaway. “It’s feeling really good,” cafe manager said at the time. “There’s a great vibe, everyone’s excited, the customers are ready.”

More than two years on, business is thriving. Coffee customers either dine in, bring their keep cup or grab a mug-to-go.
